Now, according to these slides, this new tablet will simply be called Sony Xperia Tablet. Now, the further specs include a quad core Tegra 3 CPU under the hood, and it might run on the Android 4.0 ICS or later version of Android. The Xperia tablet will be available in 16, 32 and 64GB flavors based on storage and it will also feature 3G connectivity. Under the hood, it will also be bringing a 6000 mAh battery which will be powerful enough to support 10 hours of WiFi use without any trouble. According to the same slides, we have also confirmed that this tablet will be only 8.8mm thick and it will be made using an aluminum shell that will allow it to be 42% thinner than the Tablet S. As you can see in the image above, Sony will also be bringing a keyboard cover along with it, now you might have noticed that this cover is looking very similar to the one displayed by Microsoft on its Surface tablet.

Well, you have to keep in mind that the Keyboard cover made by Sony is a little different. As you can see, users will be able to wrap this cover around the entire tablet and the folding placed at the back will also be used as the kickstand for the device. Well, surprisingly, the slides have also shown the prices of the device, as the keyboard cover will come with a price tag of $99.99. On the other hand, the Xperia Tablet with 16GB storage will cost around $449.99, 32GB one will cost $549.99 and the 64GB variant will come with a price tag of $649. Now, you can easily see that each of these models have the price tags $50 less than that of the new iPad. Last but not the least, the display screen will be 9.4 inch of the size and it will be featuring 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. Sadly, we weren’t able to get the release date for the device, but we are hoping it to arrive somewhere near the holiday season this year or the early next year.

Well, according to a recent FCC by filing by Sony, it appears like the Japanese manufacturer is developing a new tablet that will be released not far from now. According to the filing, the device comes with a model name SGPT1211 and it also features an infrared transmitter. You can see both these information on the drawing of the tablet shown below. Well, that’s all we know about this mysterious upcoming tablet from Sony at the moment. So, we can say that its not much and we will have to wait for some other details.

Now, some people are suggesting that this new tablet might be a successor to company’s existing Sony tablet S. Sony Tablet S is a 9.4 inch tablet released by the company last year. Now, we think that these claims might be correct because the Tablet S also had a very similar model name which was SGPT112. Additionally, we also know that the Tablet S also comes with an infrared blaster, while this newly discovered device also features one.

Well, when we talk in reality, we don’t even know whether it is an Android device or not. There is a chance that it will be a Windows based tablet but that looks pretty early to us. So, it is in fact an Android device and it will be featuring an infrared blaster just like the Tablet S.

Sony has further stated that this new Android 4.0.3 update will be coming with a brand new UI for the tablets. It will also allow users to create new folders using drop and drag gestures which is the similar gesture technique that was used in HP’s dead webOS. When you will receive the Android 4.0.3 update on your Sony tablet, you will be asked to install it or not. Additionally, you will also be getting a free copy of the game title Super Stardust which is available at the Play station store right now.

If you are a TV fan then you would know that  Sony was the first company to introduce OLED TV sets in the market but the prices were very high at the moment. Of course it does not look good when a manufacturer or carrier announced an update for a device but does not release it for some reasons. Similar thing was done by Sony when the manufacturer announced that both its tablet including Tablet S and Tablet P will be getting Android ICS update by the end of April. But as you already know that, only Tablet S received the ICS update in time and Tablet P was left by Sony and they did not even sent out a statement to explain the delay or cancellation of the update for Tablet P until now. Today, Sony has sent out a statement that says that Tablet P owners will be getting a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich on May 24^th.

Sony has said that Tablet P will be getting the same ICS update package as the Tablet S that will include the popular feature of Small Apps. In that feature you will be getting browser window, calculator, remote control and similar apps. In this ICS update for Tablet P you will be getting windowed multitasking features. So, it means that in next week you will be getting ICS on your Sony Tablet P.

So, according to the report, this mysterious tablet from Sony will be powered by a 1.4 GHz quad core processor under the hood and running on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich. Additionally, we have found out that the display board of this tablet has the same size as the one placed in Tablet S. The screen size was found out through the unusual screen resolution of the device, that is 1280 x 752 pixels. XDA developers forum is most knowledgeable place on web related to Android based modding and development and now they have brought another gem. This is a new app developed by XDA’s forum member, stupididea, and it is named as Gesture Control. It brings great new features, but at this time the app is still in beta stage.

Currently, there are many custom launchers that offer multi touch gestures as well as there are many .APK files which allow android users to add new functions to the menu button. Well, Gesture Control on the other hand is another root level app which can be installed as an .APK file. Once you have installed Gesture Controls on your Android tablet, you will be able to add so many multi touch gestures than ever previously possible to perform any type of basic tasks.

Unfortunately, Ice Cream Sandwich users cannot be able to run this app because Gesture Control is not supporting ICS yet, but the developer has promised that this issue will be resolved as soon as possible.

The President of Sony Electronics, Phil Molyneux was talking to PCMag when he said that the sales of Tablet S have met the company’s expectations completely. He also said that these Tablet S and Tablet P are company’s first generation Android tablet, which means that Sony is definitely planning to introduce second generation models as well.
