Apple To Release iPad Mini To Compete With Nexus 7

Well, you might have noticed that in the past month or two, we have not heard much discussion about the purported smaller iPad or iPad Mini which is a smaller version of Apple’s successful tablet. Now we already know that in the last week, Google announced its own first, Nexus 7 tablet at the I/O conference for developers. After that event, now we are receiving some news that suggest us how Apple is going to tackle this affordable as well as powerful competitor device.

Previously, some reports suggested that Apple will bring a new iPad model which will be smaller than the usual size of 9.7 inch and it will also cost less than the current iPad that comes with a premium price tag. Well, these rumors have been speculated more than one time and many credible sources have also confirmed them, so we are seeing some weight in them as well. So, now we really think that a device named iPad Mini really exists and Apple might be planning to bringing it very soon.

Today, we report was published by Slash Gear, this report has once again confirmed the display size of the rumored Apple device. The report claims that Apple is developing a 7.86 inch iPad device and the display panels are manufactured by Sharp. So, Sharp is now become the main supplier for the smaller panel, and these display panels will be developed using IGZO technology, that will offer better response rate as well as improved pixel density.

Now, we know that the manufacturing and assembling companies based in China are really making so much progress in the tech world but apparently, Apple will have to keep very low profit margins over this new device. It has been reported that this device will cost between $249 to $299 and that is why there will be less margin for Apple, which is usually maintained very high. But that’s not it, with this low price device, Apple will be able to get more consumers who will subscribe to Apps and iTunes store and Apple will generate a whole lot of digital revenue as well. We all know that usually Apple takes a third of the return on all the apps, music, games and other stuff available at the iTunes store, with a low priced device, that revenue will automatically increase.

In our opinion, there is still chance that this device will never see the light of the day because after all those rumors about it, Apple might not go for it. Apple usually does not compromise on its product price points and the new iPad is still the number one tablet in the market. So, there is no apparent threat to the popularity of the device right now.

Well, if we assume all the rumors and speculations true, then there is still hope that Apple will bring an affordable iPad to increase its iTunes store consumers and generate a whole lot of revenue from there. Please mention your comments in the box below regarding this topic.
