Lenovo Launches A 5 Inch Dual SIM Phablet – Lenovo LePhone S880
You might remember that a little while ago HTC introduced the HD2 handset that came with a huge 4.3 inch display. That HTC device looked gigantic because at that time, the 3.5 inch display of Apple iPhone was pretty reasonable. But in the recent times, 4.3 inch screen has just became a normal thing and there are countless handset that comes with a 4.3 inch display. Last year, Samsung brought a 5.3 inch device named as Galaxy Note which crosses all the lines between phone and tablet. Samsung Galaxy Note was the one device that created a whole new category in mobile devices, these devices are now called Phablets, because they have phone functionality but they have sizes of tablets.
Today, Lenovo has brought its own Phablet device that comes with a 5 inch display. Lenovo LePhone S880 was launched today in China, as I mentioned above, it is loaded with a 5 inch display screen. Now unfortunately, in addition to this huge display, LePhone S880 does not offer much else. The 5 inch device comes with WVGA resolution that is reasonable only for the smaller screens. That’s why this device does not have much pixel density. Lenovo did not bother to add some high specs in this device, as there is a single core 1 GHz MediaTek processor under the hood. There is 512MB of RAM as well as 4GB of internal storage but that can be expanded with the help of a microSD card.
You will find a 5MP camera on the back of the device while there is a 0.3MP shooter on the front as well. The hardware also contains 2,250 mAH battery that will offer a reasonable running time. LePhone S880 also offers dual SIM capabilities and it supports both WCDMA and GSM networks. Surprisingly the device is very thin with a thickness of 9.9mm and it weighs in at only 200 grams. Well, fortunately, Lenovo will be adding the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the mix to make things a little sweeter.
Now you have to keep in mind that this handset is loaded with very low power specs and we don’t think that it will be released in US for the same reason. When we talk about the pricing, it is now available for 2,199 Yuan in China that will be around $345 US Dollars. Here is the video that shows this device in action, but it is in Chinese.
