Apple Announces iOS 6 For iPhone – iPad – iPod Touch – 200 New Features!

Well, I don’t want to say it but it seems like we had it coming anyway. For last couple of weeks all the tech blogs have been discussing rumors about Apple introducing the iOS 6 on WWDC. And now its finally here. Yes, today Apple has announced the iOS 6 at WWDC event and it comes loaded with a lot of new features. If you stay updated with the rumor mill, you will be surprised to know that most of the rumored features are included in the iOS 6 while Apple also has some surprises up its sleeves as well.

New 3D Maps App:

If you don’t live under the rock then you already know that Apple never liked using Google Maps in its iOS and that is why the fruit company has been trying to bring its own in house mapping system for a long time. Now, finally Apple has succeeded into achieving that goal, as the new iOS 6 will be featuring this feature, the new maps app from Apple. As it turns out, Apple has acquired C3 Technologies which will be able to offer 3D maps and as you can see in the image above, they look pretty amazing in terms of design.

Siri Updates In iOS 6:

Well, Siri is one of the best feature in the iPhone 4S but with the help of iOS 6 it will also be introduced in the iPad as well. Well, you have to keep in mind that iOS 6 will only feature Siri for iPad 3 and the iPhone 4S. And just like we reported before, Siri will not take the whole screen of the iPad and you will be able to see most of the background screen when it is activated.

Apple has also made some enhancements in the system, as the new Siri will be able to provide latest updates on sports. In addition to that, you will also  be able to ask Siri to reserve tables at restaurants, latest movies and movie trailers and more about entertainment world. Siri will also be able to launch apps and tweet directly on Twitter on your command. Audi, BMW, Mercedes and other automakers will be adding a hardware button in their cars for launching Siri. The new Siri will also be coming with support for languages like Canadian, Italian, Korean, Mandarin, Taiwanese and others.

 

Facebook Integration:

We have been hearing various rumors about this feature as well and now it is here. New iOS 6 will bring deep Facebook integration to the iOS devices. Now, if you remember how twitter was deeply added into the iOS system, well, the same is happened with Facebook. Now, you will be able to use Facebook as a part of your iOS device which is pretty amazing and it will be very convenient for all those frequent Facebook users.

 

Stock Feature Updates:

Well, iOS 6 will bring great new enhancements to the stock iOS apps. The Phone app will be getting Do Not Disturb Mode which will silent all your notifications when toggled on. You will also be able to do other stuff like Repeated Calls feature which we previously had to do with 3^rd party apps. Additionally, iOS 6 will also allow FaceTime over 3G and 4G networks.

When we talk about the Safari browser, it will allow you to read stuff offline and also upload images directly from the browser. People living in China will now be using Baidu Search instead of Google Search feature on iOS. Baidu has become a very popular search engine in China and Apple also did not like this app from Google and that is why they replaced it.

Well, there are over 200 new features in the iOS 6, we have discussed all the major ones and we will be keeping you updated with others as well. Just like iOS 5, iOS 6 is also looking feature rich update and we are definitely looking forward to it. Apple has mentioned that iOS 6 will be released this fall and its Beta has been released for the developers. Now, We are also expecting a new iPhone later this year but Apple neglected to mention that.
