Toshiba Excite 7.7 Hands On Preview

Toshiba Excite 7.7 Hands On Preview

Just a little over a week ago we told you about three Excite branded Toshiba Android tablets. All these tablets are coming with the lovable quad core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor. Now Toshiba will be releasing these tablets soon, but here we are with a hands on preview of the tablet. Last night at Pepcom’s EcoFocus event held in New York City, the Trio of Excite tablets was being displayed and we managed to get some hands on time with them. So, in this post we are going to preview the smallest of the bunch, the Toshiba Excite 7.7.

Previously, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 was the only tablet that came with a 7.7 inch display screen, but now Toshiba Excite 7.7 is arriving and it will heat up the competition. The Excite 7.7 comes with a similar 7.7 inch AMOLED display panel just like the Galaxy Tab 7.7 from Samsung. When we talk about the design of the device, we really like this new design theme from Toshiba in its Excite series of tablets. The design is completely different from the PC like appearance of the Toshiba Thrive released a little while ago.  This time, Toshiba went with a silver plastic casing that makes it look like a metallic tablet, but of course with the lack of the added weight. In addition to that, you will also find a modest sleek frame in the Toshiba Excite 7.7. In the end, you will be glad to know that the design is more rounded in the corners that will allow better overall feel in the hand.

When we talk about the display of the device, as I mentioned above, Toshiba Excite 7.7 features a 7.7 inch AMOLED display and it is capable of producing enough high contrast and saturated colors that will keep your eyes affixed at it for a long time. That’s not the only best thing about the display, you will also find some pleasant looking details in the display as well.

All credit goes to the powerful quad core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processors that comes under the hood of this device, it is able to perform handsomely and you will find no issues while running heavy apps. The prototype Toshiba Excite 7.7 displayed last night was running the stock Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for tablet experience but we don’t know if any customization will be included in the final retail version.

Previously, we have heard rumors that Toshiba will be releasing Excite 7.7 sometime in June, just like the other two tablets, Toshiba Excite will also feature a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and there will be a 2MP front facing shooter as well. We don’t know about the pricing of the tablet at the moment, but the rumors are suggesting that it might cost around $500, that might affect the sales because a small tablet like this should not cost that much.
