Pod2g Gives Another Twitter Update On Untethered Jailbreak For iOS 5.1

If you are a jailbreak fan then you might be familiar with the name Pod2g, who is one of the most prominent iOS security researchers. Today, a new update was given by pod2g which suggests that the a new untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1 is on the horizon. But still we don’t have any confirmed release date for the jailbreak at the moment.

We all know that these talented Jailbreak developers never sit still, and now we know that the master of the art Pod2g himself is at the verge of the breakthrough, we can say that iOS 5.1 jailbreak is coming sooner than you might think.

A little while ago Pod2g joined teams with Chronic and iPhone Dev Teams and this dream team was able to release iOS 5.0.1 untether tool for the A5 running iOS devices, while A4 devices were also able to get that update. Now, it seems like the pace has once again picked up, as today Pod2g announced via his Twitter page that the iOS 5.1 jailbreak development is coming along nicely.

Of course it is not a news that a jailbreak for iOS 5.1 is in the developments right now, but now we have found out that the jailbreak team has also got the possession of all the required exploits which is really an important step towards having a fully working as well as publicly available jailbreak solution for iOS 5.1 running devices. Internal testing for the jailbreak is under way right now and Pod2g himself is working on to bypass the ASLR at bootup. So, it seems like we are not that far away from a public release for this latest untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1 running devices.

If you are unaware with the term ASLR, it basically means address space layout randomization and it is particularly important. It was first introduced in iOS 4.3 by Apple, and it was made to add extra security for the operating system and obviously it was to hamper jailbreak attempts as well. After that a hacker named as Charlie Miller was able to break ASLR at Pwn2Own and that showed that whatever Apple does, its operating system will be jailbroken anyway.

Now, we have to keep in mind that our capable jailbreak developers have not provided any estimated time of release for an iOS 5.1 untether jailbreak solution. Of course this announcement from Pod2g gives us a new hope but we don’t have to think that the jailbreak will be arriving imminently. It is very likely that Apple might have made new attempts to block jailbreak and it seems like it will take a little while for the developers to finally release an untethered jailbreak for the public this early.

So, after this twitter update from Pod2g, we are expecting that the people behind the jailbreak scene should have doubled their efforts and of course it is the best part of jailbreaking. Of course at this time you can use iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak on your device, but if you have updated to iOS 5.1 you can only rely on the tethered jailbreak released a little while ago.
