Quad Core Asus Transformer Pad 300 Will Arrive In US On 22nd April
You might remember our post a couple of days ago in which we mentioned that the mid ranged Asus Transformer Pad 300 was released in Asus’ home town Taiwan. Well, now finally we have the release date for the tablet in US as well. The Transformer Pad 300 will be arriving in the US on April 22nd, as reported by PC World.
We all know that Asus is still facing the lawsuit from Hasbro in the US but still Asus has used Transformer moniker which does not look like so offensive to us, in this new tablet. It has been reported that the Transformer Pad 300 will feature a quad core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor under the hood while it will also come with a 10.1 inch screen. Another plus point of this tablet is that it will arrive with Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich running out of the box.
Buyers of the tablet will also have the option to buy an optional Android specific QWERTY keyboard dock for the device. This keyboard dock is designed to use a separate battery to increase the life of the tablet by 50% to 15 hours when it is docked. We have not received the pricing of the device yet, but wholesale club BJ’s has posted the tablet on its website and you can pre order the Transformer Pad 300 there at a price of $399.99 for the 32GB model. It is highly expected that the Transformer Pad 300 will only be a WiFi device. Currently, BJ’s website shows that it is out of stock and not available. Previously we heard that the 16GB model will be on sale at $379 from J&R. On the other hand you will be able to buy the keyboard dock for $149.99. When we compare this tablet to the Apple iPad 2 and iPad 3, the Transformer Pad 300 looks very competitive, at least in terms of the price.
In addition to the 10.1 inch screen and Android ICS, Transformer Pad 300 will also come with 1GB of DDR2 RAM and it will sport a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels which definitely beats iPad 2, but not the new iPad. The tablet will come in WiFi only, WiFi and 3G and WiFi and 4G LTE variants. Asus Transformer Pad 300 will also feature a micro HDMI port, microSD port, an 8MP rear camera as well as a 1.2MP shooter in the front.
We have also heard that Asus is also going to bring a slightly higher spec’d tablet named as the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity 700 Series. This tablet will come with a higher resolution 1080p screen and it will be powered by Qualcomm dual core Snapdragon S4 processor. Obviously the 700 series tablet will have better LTE supports as we already know that NVIDIA Tegra 3 is incompatible with the LTE technology. We have not received any word about the pricing or release date for this model yet.
Well, both of these tablets were displayed at MWC 2012 in Barcelona back in February. So, now the first tablet is arriving next week and in my opinion the second one will also be released sooner than you might expect.
