Asus Announces A New Tegra 3 Tablet For 250 Dollars

Well, it was very surprising. As we reported earlier that Asus was expected to launch the Asus Eee Pad MeMo, a 7 inch tablet on this CES event. As we reported you earlier about the specs and release time frame of the device, but the pricing were never revealed for the Ice Cream Sandwich tablet. Now, it seems like Asus changed its mind and during the NVIDIA Press Conference at CES, the President and CEO of Asus Jen-Hsun Huang announced another 7 inch tablet and its price instead of MeMo.

According to the announcement, just like MeMo, this unnamed tablet will also be having 7 inch display screen and will be running on Android Ice Cream Sandwich. But as we reported that MeMo was powered by a dual core Snapdragon processor, the new tablet will be having a quad core Tegra 3 processor from NVIDIA. CEO did not mention the release date but revealed the price of the slate which will be only $250. If you might remember that Asus CEO predicted in November that the Tegra 3 tablets having prices under $300 will be out in a couple of quarters, if that prediction is true than the tablet is expected to launch somewhere around June.
