Another Rumor Suggests The Possibility Of Two New iPad Models
The popular Taiwanese tech blog, DigiTimes is back and this time they have brought a little too much specific reports about Apple’s planning over the next generation iPad. Well, we cannot prove or guarantee the accuracy of the news yet but still these are being reported for the sake of discussion.
So, the first report from DigiTimes states that Apple will be releasing two iPad models next year, a high end and a mid range iPad model, and the publication even specified the release date of the device to be 25 January 2012. As you might be aware that it is the same day when Apple is holding MacWorld | iWorld Conference and as you might remember that Apple has stopped exhibiting products at MacWorld event since January 2009.
On the other hand, Apple usually launches its new products at its own media events. Just take the example of the original iPad which was announced on 27 January, 2010 while the second gen iPad, the iPad 2 was released earlier this year on March 2, 2011.

In the latest report, DigiTimes again confirmed the widespread rumor that the next iPad will be featuring a Retina Display like screen in addition to a double resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. According to DigiTimes’ sources, the alleged mid range and high end models will both have QXGA resolution and a dual LED light bar which will be able to enhance the brightness of the display.
The report further added that Sharp is going to be “major panel supplier” for the iPad 3 display, while Samsung and LG will also be contributing a little. On the other hand, Apple has contracted with Samsung to supply them with the quad core A6 processors and especially for the mid range iPad, the CMOS image sensor will be supplied and that will have a 5 MP lens. While the camera sensor for the high end iPad model will be provided by Sony and it will have an 8 MP lens.
The sources also mentioned that Apple will continue selling iPad 2, and the price will get more lower so that it can easily compete with its current competitor, the Amazon Kindle Fire which costs only $199.
DigiTimes released another report today which states that Apple next iPad, allegedly called iPad 3 will be coming a 14,000 mAH battery, which looks like a pretty significant increase the power of the battery currently being used in the iPad 2. So, the overall roundup is that Apple might be in process of producing two new iPad models, one of them is rumored to be the next generation high end model and will be called iPad 3, while the second one is expected to target the mid range user base and it will be named as iPad 2S. As I mentioned above, nothing is confirmed yet and these are mere speculations, so we wait and watch for more..
