Apple was not the first one to bring a tablet out in the market, as there have been many lying around here for quite some time now. Apple was the one to getting these gadgets so popular. It was previously said that tablets would not be a total failure but their demands will be limited. So, after Apple created this huge market for tablets, now many of the manufacturers are trying to catch-up. But, its their bad luck that none of them have been successful as Apple so far.

HP’s TouchPad was a total disaster. HP had to discontinue the device and later the company sold it for the lowest price i.e. $99. RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook was also a train wreck and RIM also has written off nearly half a billion dollar in the price of unsold PlayBook tablets recently.

After all this, Google’s Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt is thinking they will be able to beat Apple in the tablet game. Eric Schmidt was talking with an Italian newspaper named as Corriere della Sea, where he announced that Google is currently in process of making an official Nexus Tablet which will hit the markets within next six months. Schmidt also praised Steve Jobs and said that he was the “Michelangelo of  our time” but he also added that Apple and Google are in a brutal competition right now.

Previously, Google has stepped into the tablet market by partnering up with Motorola earlier this year to launch the Xoom tablet. The tablet was the first one use Google’s Android Honeycomb OS,  but Xoom did not fared well and had many drawbacks as well.

But now, as we know that Google is about to take over Motorola, so it is expected that the newer tablet will be offering better experience to the users. Google will be keeping a strict eye in its development, not only the software, hardware as well.
